A BIT ABOUT ME

I was born and have lived in Devon all my life. I’m married with children and a grandchild, and they are a very important part of who I am.

My parents separated in my early years, which means I have a personal understanding of the complexities of family life, including blended families and changing relationships.

I came to counselling myself almost 20 years ago, and it had a lasting impact on me. It helped me recognise how some of my responses were shaped by past experiences—often happening automatically—and how those patterns weren’t always helpful in the present. With greater awareness came a clearer sense of what feels right and healthy for me, and how I want to live my life.

For many years, I worked as an oncology support specialist for a local cancer charity, supporting people and their loved ones through incredibly challenging times in some instances leading to end of life support and bereavement. This experience showed me just how connected our life experiences are, and how they can affect every part of us and our relationships.

I’ve seen the strength of the human spirit, and the importance of feeling supported. While life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, they can also become a place of growth, resilience, and a deeper understanding of ourselves.

My personal experiences of loss, change, disconnection, and witnessing how difficult life can sometimes be - both personally and professionally - have shaped how I walk alongside people through difficult times. These experiences have helped me understand that people are often carrying far more than others realise. They have also strengthened my belief that, although painful experiences can deeply affect us, people are capable of healing, growing, and finding strength and meaning again, over time. This understanding shapes the care, compassion and respect I bring to our time together.

Together, we can explore what’s going on for you, at your own pace, and find a way forward that feels right for you.
